ABOUT
The Lake Granbury Art Association (LGAA) invites young artists and their families to join us for our Emerging Artists Plein Air Program, held as part of Paint in the Park & Art Market on the last Saturday of each month.
“Plein air” is a French term meaning “open air” and refers to the practice of creating art outdoors from direct observation. Young artists will have the opportunity to slow down, observe the beauty around them, and interpret it through their own unique artistic vision.
Whether your child is picking up a paintbrush for the very first time or already loves creating art, artists of all experience levels are welcome. Our goal is to inspire creativity, build confidence, encourage observation skills, and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Parent & Guardian Information
The Emerging Artists Plein Air Program is designed to provide encouragement, inspiration, and artistic opportunities for children and teens. It is intended to be a family-friendly experience that allows young artists to create alongside the support of those who care about them most.
Please note that this is not a drop-off or childcare program. Parents, guardians, or a designated responsible adult are required to remain on-site and are responsible for the supervision, safety, and well-being of their child throughout the event.
Children ages 4–8, in particular, will likely need assistance carrying supplies, setting up their work area, and attending to personal needs.
LGAA volunteers and participating artists are happy to answer questions, offer encouragement, and help foster a love of art. Our role is to provide a welcoming creative environment and a resource for emerging artists—not to provide childcare.
Why Participate?
- Develop observation and creative thinking skills.
- Build confidence through artistic expression.
- Experience the benefits of spending time outdoors.
- Learn to appreciate the beauty of their community.
- Connect with local artists and other young creators.
- Create lasting family memories.
- Discover that art can be a lifelong source of joy, learning, and connection.
We invite families to slow down, enjoy the beauty of the park, and encourage the next generation of artists as they explore the world through art. Bring your supplies, bring your imagination, and bring an adult who can cheer you on!
